"Europe and the bull" is one of the major works of famous Swedish sculptor Carl Milles. The motif is taken from Greek mythology: Zeus, in the shape of a bull,  us to undertake turnkey contracts from model to a finished sculpture installed.

The Milles Fountain that dominates Aloe Plaza in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, is an extraordinary example of sculptural craftsmanship. Located in the 1800 block of Market Street, across the street from historic Union Station, the fountain was designed and constructed by Swedish-born sculptor Carl Milles, who was a pupil of Auguste Rodin. Originally called "Wedding of the Rivers," it was Detail, base and body of the bull; Modeled after the Greek myth, this sculpture depicts Europa, the daughter of a king of Phoenicia. According to the legend, Zeus transformed himself into a white bull and carried her away to the island of Crete. The sculptor said the idea of the statue came to him in a dream. During his time in Paris, Carl Milles was influenced by the work of Auguste Renoir, who was also fascinated by hands. Nancy Leitch was a student of Carl Milles while she attended the Cranbrook Academy of Art (1943 - 1945).
