"Europe and the bull" is one of the major works of famous Swedish sculptor Carl Milles. The motif is taken from Greek mythology: Zeus, in the shape of a bull,  us to undertake turnkey contracts from model to a finished sculpture installed.

The sculptor said the idea of the statue came to him in a dream. During his time in Paris, Carl Milles was influenced by the work of Auguste Renoir, who was also fascinated by hands. Nancy Leitch was a student of Carl Milles while she attended the Cranbrook Academy of Art (1943 - 1945).
